Just as we finished harvesting all of our shiraz fruit, following an incredibly early and very warm 2024 vintage, we were delighted to release our 2020 Passel Estate Shiraz to our wine club and in the tasting room.
Coming from a similarly warm vintage, this gorgeous wine has already won a GOLD medal in the Australia & Boutique Wine Show 2023 and a SILVER medal in International Wine Challenge 2023.
Ray Jordan awarded it 92 Points in his West Australian Wine review 2024, with this fantastic review:
“Loads of bright vibrant plummy fruit dominate initially on the nose. Then look deeper to the mix of spices and dried herbs with a dark chocolate mocha-like character emerging. The palate is soft and silky smooth brimming with bright plump fruit and supported by some nice oak. Chewy and delicious.”
We are doubly thrilled to introduce our 2020 Passel Estate Lot 71 Reserve Syrah, being released over the Easter weekend in the Tasting Room
This stunning wine was made from select rows of our finest fruit which we hand-picked for a whole cluster ferment and matured for 16 months in large format French oak puncheons, 30% of which were new. And it is rare – we produced less than 90 cases.
“The wine is looking amazing” said our senior winemaker, Remi Guise at a recent tasting, “it is perfect timing for release.”
Our previous vintage release of this beautiful wine took a WINE TROPHY from the International Wine & Spirits Competition – we can’t wait to see how this wine from a similarly warm vintage does on the global stage this year.
In the meantime, Remi will be celebrating the end of vintage with a bottle of this 2020 Lot 71 Reserve Syrah which he will be pairing with some perfectly braaied lamb.
These beautiful 2020 vintage wines, both from the same, single shiraz (or, syrah) vineyard, are now available to purchase online in Australia, just in time for the cooler Autumn evenings.
