Vintage Update – A New Release for the Summer

Following the unusually long, and challenging ripening season during which we held our nerve and were rewarded with the most beautiful, ripe fruit at harvest, the Passel Estate 2017 red wines and chardonnay have now settled happily in their new French oak barrels. They are starting to reveal their personalities and give us a peek into what 2017 as a vintage has in store for us long term. The conclusion from our winemaking team so far is “Greatness!”.

We are excited about our inaugural Passel Estate Sauvignon Blanc this vintage. We believe it is a fantastic expression of sauvignon blanc from Margaret River, with its aromatic fruit flavours and freshness, yet boasting complexity from barrel fermentation and extended lees work over the last few months. This beautiful wine has just been bottled, and we will be releasing it in December 2017 (just in time for your summer Christmas dinner menu), but stay tuned for a special pre-release and celebration dedicated to our Wine Club members.

Already planning for vintage 2018 in the vineyard, we have completed pruning and the typical ‘spring works’ to establish perfect vine architecture and the foundations for another wonderful vintage at Passel Estate. Right now we are enjoying the initial stirrings of bud-burst along with the welcome spring sunshine.
