Sensational reviews for the 2016 Passel Estate Lot 71 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Fantastic new accolades for Passel Estate

The newly released 2016 Passel Estate Lot 71 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has been garnering some sensational reviews, including a GOLD ribbon and 95 points from Aaron Brasher for The Real Review and 95 points from Erin Larkin of Halliday Wine Companion who, noting our choice of extended maturation in French oak and in bottle, selected it for inclusion in Halliday Magazine’s 2021 Cellaring Guide.

Brambly, briary, there’s some bushy, hedgy, underbrush aromatics happening here and it’s intertwined with an ample dose of blackcurrant, graphite and dark cherry. The flavours are mid-weighted and in the blue-black fruit spectrum and there’s that brambly, slightly edgy, leafy (but ripe) cabernet thing happening as well. Plenty of complexity, layers and sophistication here…”  Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

Plush and velvety, the relatively late release has catapulted this into a delicate balance of both age and freshness.  It’s ready to go now, although the hallmarks for ageing are there as well. Satsuma plums, briney acid and fine, shapely tannins.”  Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion

Made from selected fruit in a single block of our old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon and matured in fine French oak for 18 months, 58% of which was new, there are only a 100 cases of this stunning wine available.  Buy now.
