Solid winter rains filled our dams and provided good levels of soil moisture to nourish the vineyard at Passel Estate. Described by our winemaker, Bruce Dukes as a vintage of “typical Margaret River magic”, the gentle summer that followed, allowed the vines to develop their journey to ripeness very gradually, resulting in super fragrant and flavoursome grapes at harvest.
Our Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc fruit this vintage are characterised by delicate high-level perfumes, amazing levels of fruit freshness and succulent levels of natural acidity. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz vines responded to the gentle conditions by ripening slowly and completely, yielding generously textured tannins and vibrant perfumes.
It is early stages as we barrel down the inky purple and fragrant red wines but Bruce is certain that Passel Estate has just enjoyed another amazing vintage.
