Nature Conservation at Passel Estate – May 2024

Although we are still in the midst of a hot, dry Autumn and our attention has been focused on ensuring there is water for our precious Western Ringtail possums and other wildlife, it is time to start getting ready for our annual Conservation Planting Day at Passel Estate.

The hard work by our staff and volunteers has proved to be hugely valuable, with many of the plantings from previous years now well established and providing sanctuary and nourishment to our growing number of Western Ringtail Possums as well as the other endangered native species that live on the estate.

There continues to be however a great deal of work to do to fully rehabilitate the creek line and strengthen the natural bushland habitat, to enhance the conservation ecosystem and support a rich biodiversity at the estate.

Once again, we are inviting friends and volunteers to save the date on Tuesday 21st May 2024, from 10.00am to 1.00pm, to lend your support to creating the best environment for our local fauna, by helping to plant a further 250 tube stocks of a variety of native plants beneficial to our native wildlife. Your efforts will be rewarded with a light lunch at the Tasting Room, which you may wish to enjoy with a complimentary glass of Passel Estate wine.

Please wear protective shoes and appropriate clothing for the bush and be prepared for much-needed wet weather on the day. Gloves and trowels will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own favourites if you prefer, and please remember to bring your own water bottle.

Volunteers are requested to register before 17th May, by emailing tastingroom@passelestate.com or calling +618 9717 6241, as numbers are strictly limited to ensure a safe and enjoyable morning for everybody.
